Gaane leads bloodletting activity in Brgy. Camaman-an

City Councilor Paolo Nicolo Gaane spearheaded a bloodletting activity in Barangay Camaman-an, in partnership with the city government and various organizations.

The event saw active participation from the Office of City Mayor Rolando A. Uy, J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), the Philippine Red Cross, Barangay Council of Camaman-an, Coast Guard, Knights of Columbus, Sigma Upsilon Lumba, and the Inclusive Health Advocacy Group.

The activity aimed to boost the city’s blood supply while promoting community engagement and health awareness among residents.

Councilor Gaane emphasized the importance of collective efforts in promoting health and social responsibility.

“This initiative is vital in saving lives, and it shows what we can achieve when we work together as a community,” he said. (JBD/SP)

SP renames Mambuaya Elementary School

The 21st City Council, in its regular session on Monday, enacted an ordinance renaming Mambuaya Elementary School (MES) to Mambuaya Central School (MCS), located in Barangay Mambuaya, this city, upon the recommendation of the Local School Board.

The initiative stems from the school’s long-established role as the central institution in the Southwest II District, serving as a hub for academic, administrative, and community-based programs. It also complies with the requirements of the Regional Inspectorate Team (RIT) of the Department of Education (DepEd) for the completion of the renaming process and the issuance of final endorsement from higher DepEd authorities. The ordinance ensures that the school’s name rightfully reflects its function and contribution to the district and the community, The Gavel learned.
