THE city government of Cagayan de Oro will collaborate with the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) to provide and facilitate emergency water supply to the latter during disasters, calamities, and water shortages, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
This, as the 21st City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the NMMC for the purpose.
In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy said the MOA underscores the vital need to ensure uninterrupted access to a safe and sufficient water supply for NMMC, especially in times of emergencies.
Under the MOA, the NMMC shall maintain preparedness and ensure continuity of operations during calamities, disasters, and water shortages; to promptly notify the city through the CDRRMO in the event of any disruption or unavailability of the hospital’s essential water supply.
For its part, the city government, through the CDRRMO, shall coordinate with appropriate government agencies and instrumentalities, including but not limited to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD), for the purposes of ensuring the provision and facilitation of water supply to the NMMC.
The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on health, nutrition, and health insurance, and on laws and rules respectively chaired by Councilors Paolo Nicolo Gaane and Edgar S. Cabanlas. (JBD/SP)

(MLR/SP)

In its 16th regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, the 21st City Council approved the executive budget of the city for fiscal year 2026, with an estimated income of ₱8,288,070,808.00 for the General Fund and ₱1,261,929,192.00 for the Special Account: Local Economic Enterprises/Utilities.
Sixteen council members voted in favor of the motion to approve made by Majority Floor Leader Councilor Edgar Cabanlas, while two (2) voted against.
It may be recalled that the City Council as committee-of-the-whole held last week a budget hearing attended by various City Hall departments to review the ₱10.15 Billion budget submitted by City Mayor Rolando A. Uy.
After thorough deliberation, the City Council agreed to reduce the budget by P600 Million, citing challenges in revenues.
The approved expenditure program covers general public services, social services, and economic services sectors, including auxiliary programs under the Office of the City Mayor, all geared toward advancing the city’s development priorities. (SPE/SP)
