A NEW P50-million smart school building officially opened its doors to the Carmen National High School community following a turnover ceremony held on July 31, 2026, with Councilor Moreno “Jing” Daba IV, chair of the City Council committee on education, among the local officials in attendance.
The ceremony was spearheaded by City Mayor Rolando A. Uy and attended by representatives from the 21st City Council, the Local School Board (LSB), the Barangay Carmen Council, and the school's administrators, teachers, and students.
Financed through the Local School Board, the project reflects the city's ongoing efforts to expand access to modern, high-quality learning environments in public schools.
Rising three storeys, the newly completed building contains nine classrooms equipped with digital learning resources intended to enhance classroom instruction.
Each room is furnished with desktop computer units, smart interactive displays, digital presentation equipment, and Wi-Fi connectivity to support technology-based teaching and learning.
Student furnishings include ergonomically designed armchairs with built-in storage, as well as units specially configured for left-handed learners.
To promote the safety of its occupants, the building has also been fitted with automatic fire alarm systems and other protective features that contribute to a secure and conducive educational setting.
Daba said investments in educational infrastructure are investments in the future of the city's youth, stressing that well-equipped schools help create better opportunities for both students and educators.
He added that the completion of the smart school building reflects the local government's continuing commitment to improving the quality of public education through innovation and accessible learning facilities. (JAO/SP)

Go, a Past District Governor (PDG) of Rotary International District 3870 and an active member and pillar of the Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro, together with the organization, has long supported Sitio Camansi School, a public school serving learners from a remote hinterland community in Barangay FS Catanico, near the boundary with Brgy. Cugman.
Through “Dinks for Dreams,” Go and the Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro aim to bring the community together by conducting initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for learners and provide opportunities for learners in geographically isolated areas.
The activity also highlights their continuing commitment to service and community development.

THE Department of Health (DOH) is set to construct a Super Health Center in Malasag, Barangay Cugman as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen the delivery of primary healthcare services to local communities.
This, as the 21st City Council headed by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez enacted an ordinance declaring the 500 square meters city-owned property as site for the establishment of the proposed Super Health Center.
The project will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and is identified as a priority public health infrastructure initiative funded by the DOH.
Once completed, the facility is expected to improve access to quality and comprehensive healthcare services for residents, particularly those in underserved areas.
Legislators welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the new facility will help decongest existing health centers while bringing essential medical services closer to the community.
The Super Health Center will provide expanded primary care services, including medical consultations, maternal and child healthcare, immunization, laboratory services, pharmacy, and other preventive and promotive health programs. (JBD/SP)
