This is in response to the request from the Nazareth Council headed by Punong Barangay Atty. Regine Beatrice Rodriguez, who articulated the housing needs of its constituents in the area.

During the committee meeting, PB Rodriguez informed the committee that the informal settlers, previously known as the Nazareth Landless Association, were victims of the large fire that occurred last February 2023.

They have sought assistance from both the barangay council and the landowner to secure permanent housing solutions.

They diligently complied with the requirements set by the City Engineer’s Office to put road access, drainage systems, and adequate solar lights to meet planning standards, she added.

“We also sought the help of the registered owner of the parcel of land, which is the archdiocese, (and) the NHA (National Housing Authority) was very kind to acknowledge the dire need for this housing program,” said Rodriguez.

Councilor Cabanlas said the City Council has a protocol to inspect the area. However, he said in view of the urgency of the request, the committee will forego with the requirement.
