THE 20th City Council, in its regular session on Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, adopted a resolution requesting the Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20 to hold in abeyance for a period of three (3) months the implementation of the demolition at Kolambog, Lapasan, in consideration of the education of the children of the affected families.

The demolition was previously scheduled for execution last July 11, 2017. It was postponed because the Philippine Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) had not yet issued the Pre-Demolition Conference Report, and the court had granted a 90-day suspension of enforcement upon the City Council's request.
Subsequently, on November 16, 2021 and July 13, 2023, court orders have been issued, mandating the implementation of the demolition order. The PCUP finally released the Pre-Demolition Conference Report and transmitted it to the Regional Director of Police Regional Office-10.
The legislation was sponsored by the Committee on Urban and Rural Poor and Housing Development and on Laws and Rules, both chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
