Oro Council okays ₱850K-budget of SK Pagalungan

To provide opportunity for youth participation in local governance and nation-building, the City Council in its regular session approved the roughly ₱860,000 annual budget of Barangay Pagalungan SK (Sangguniang Kabataan).

The said amount was sourced from the barangay’s 10% development fund in accordance with Republic Act 10742, also known as the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2005.

Taking the lion’s share is the SK’s capability and leadership training at ₱260,000, while ₱250,000 has been earmarked for activities and projects for education and governance. For honoraria, SK Pagalungan appropriated ₱183,600.

₱65,000 has been also allocated for travelling and training expenses, and ₱17,145 for its annual due to the affiliation in the SK federation.

The rest of the budget were intended for office supplies and information, education, and communication drives on adolescent sexual and reproductive health, gender sensitivity, anti-drug-abuse, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction and management, among others.

The said appropriation first underwent the perusal and approval of the youth council, and endorsed and reviewed to the City Council through the sports and youth development committee of Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala and laws and rules committee of Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas. (FDC/SP)
