Pascual backs turnover of P2.48-M corn combine harvester from DA

City Councilor Juancho R. Pascual expressed his gratitude for the turnover of a P2.48-million Corn Combine Harvester from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 10 (DA RFO-10) to the City.

This as the City Council approved the ordinance, authorizing Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DA and the city government for the purpose.

Under the agreement, signed by DA RFO-10 Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan and Mayor Uy, the city government will ensure the proper custody, management, and safekeeping of the harvester before facilitating its eventual turnover to a qualified beneficiary.

Pascual, chairperson of the city council’s committee on agriculture, fisheries, and aquatic resources, said the city government would initially manage the machinery while identifying a qualified beneficiary who can properly operate, maintain, and secure the equipment.

While the harvester remains under the LGU’s custody, Pascual also hopes to maximize its use to benefit local farmers. (PGU/SP)
