The city government of Cagayan de Oro will collaborate with the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) to provide hands-on clinical training for the latter’s Doctor of Medicine students at the J.R. Borja General Hospital.

This initiative aims to equip future medical professionals with practical skills and experience necessary for their careers.

During the regular session Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, the City Council approved the ordinance, which authorized Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement with the USTP for the purpose.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy emphasized the importance of such collaboration in cultivating skilled healthcare professionals, not only fosters the growth of the students but also strengthens the healthcare community by improving the quality of care delivered to the public.

The legislation was reviewed and favorably endorsed by the committees on health, nutrition, and health insurance and on laws and rules respectively chaired by Councilors Paolo Nicolo Gaane and Edgar S. Cabanlas. (JBD/SP)
