The City Council committee on ways and means, chaired by Councilor Yan Lam S. Lim, will deliberate the request of The Xavier Stage (TXS) for amusement tax exemption for their theater production of “Agatha Christie’s 10 Little Indians”.

The production is among the highlighted performances of TXS’ 12th theater season, which coincides with the group’s 15th anniversary.

Originally penned by renowned author Agatha Christie, 10 Little Indians was translated into Cebuano by Don Pagusara and directed by Bart P. Savior.

The play explores themes of justice, guilt, moral accountability, and social hierarchy, centering on ten individuals who are mysteriously invited to a dinner gathering on an isolated island, where they are confronted with accusations of murder.

Tickets are priced at P150 each, with proceeds intended to benefit the Pan sa Kada-adlaw Program of Xavier University’s Office of Mission and Ministry.

Under RA 7160, the holding of operas, concerts, dramas, recitals, paintings, and arts exhibitions, flower shows, musical programs, literary and oratorical presentations, except for pop, rock, or similar concerts, shall be exempt from the payment of amusement tax.

In her letter addressed to the City Mayor, Ms. Begil emphasized that the support from the city government plays a vital role in strengthening the local arts sector, while also advancing the wider promotion of Filipino arts, culture, and heritage.

The play is scheduled to run from February 23 to 28, 2026, at the XU Little Theater. (JAO/SP)
