NOW on its third year, the Lambago Tree Growing initiative of Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, in collaboration with 2nd District Congressman Rufus B. Rodriguez, successfully kicked off on August 9, 2025 at Cala Cala, Macasandig Riverside, Cagayan de Oro City.

This annual green initiative, held in partnership with the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) under Engr. Armen Cuenca, and the Barangay Council of Macasandig, is part of the Higalaay Festival celebrations.

Joining VM Bebot were Brgy. Nazareth Kapitana Atty. Regine Rodriguez, Councilor Marlo Tabac, barangay leaders, students and faculty from various schools, and representatives from different sectors and organizations.
This year, 600 lambago were planted—significantly surpassing the numbers from the first and second years of the program.

Beyond being a symbolic environmental gesture, the initiative supports Cong. Rufus’s House Bill 04203, which promotes reforestation and wood production through tree-growing agreements, as well as VM Bebot’s proposed Carbon Offsetting and Neutrality Ordinance—One Million Trees Rising in Cagayan de Oro.
