VM Bebot, 21st City Council attend 2-day DILG NEO PLUS Orientation

CAGAYAN de Oro City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez and members of the 21st City Council actively participated in the two-day NEO PLUS Orientation Program conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10, held recently for newly elected and re-elected officials across Misamis Oriental.

Spearheaded by Regional Director Bruce Colao, Assistant Regional Director Yvette Tolentino Sunga, and City Director Elaine Josephine Depaur, the capacity-building initiative formally known as Newly Elected Officials Performing Leadership for Uplifting Service (NEO PLUS), brought together mayors, vice mayors, and councilors from various local government units to strengthen their knowledge and skills in public service.

The training focused on essential governance areas such as planning and development, legislative roles of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and Sangguniang Bayan, public service ethics, decentralization, and the need for cohesive executive-legislative collaboration.

Interactive breakout sessions and open forums also allowed participants to exchange ideas and best practices.

VM Bebot highlighted the value of the program, saying, “It reminds us that while we are re-elected, we are also constantly called to review our leadership, to serve better, to lead wiser.” (JDO/SP)
