Tri-committee to investigate fly infestation in Brgy Lumbia

The committee on agriculture, fisheries, and aquatic resources, chaired by Councilor Juancho “Antuy” Pascual, will lead investigation on the reported fly outbreak in Barangay Lumbia.

The hearing will be conducted jointly with the City Council health and environment committees, in response to the complaint of Col. Anselmo Ty II of the Philippine Air Force, citing the fly infestation poses a serious threat to public welfare, risks of disease transmission, food contamination, and disruption to the daily lives of residents.

The Sangguniang barangay of Lumbia has also elevated this case to the City Council. Lumbia punong barangay Alexander Torralba said his office already lodged this concern with the City Health Office as early as September 24 last year.

Johndorf Ventures Corporation also wrote to the local government of the Municipality of Baungon, attributing the chicken farms and piggeries operating within its area as a major factor in the infestation spillover to residential areas in the said barangay. (FDC/SP)
