Subd committee asks re-appraisal of lot on Macahambus Road

DURING the meeting of the City Council Committee on Subdivision and Landed Estate, Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, chair of the committee, has requested the City Appraisal Committee to re-evaluate the lot portion of Macahambus Road, located in Barangay No. 16.

This, after Ms. Lilia L. Arce, President of the Batangas Land Company (BLC) requested the city government to shoulder the payment of the indirect 12-percent Value-Added Tax (VAT), which will be deducted from the re-assessment of just compensation based on 2022 zonal value of the acquired Lot 637-B-1.

This lot portion on Macahambus Road covers an area of 83 square meters.

The Gavel learned that the City Legal Office said in its opinion that there is no legal basis for the city to shoulder the said request since R.A. 10752 only applies to national government infrastructure projects. However, the City Legal Office recommended for possible request of reappraisal of the said property.

With this, Councilor Cabanlas requested the City Appraisal Committee for possible re-appraisal and submit the report within two weeks.

Councilor Joey Abbu and Aga Suan were also present during the meeting.
