Suan calls for updating of 2020 anti-COVID laws

As COVID cases surge,

“The City Council needs to do something right now. We need to reinforce and update our COVID ordinances (and) request our (city) mayor, through a resolution, for a stricter enforcement. We might also even need to introduce new measures to make sure that this surge does not become uncontrollable.”

This was pointed out by Councilor Lordan G. Suan in his special report during the regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, citing that Cagayan de Oro is now considered one of the areas of concern, along with Puerto Princesa and Bacolod, due to the surge in the number of COVID cases in just a span of one week.

Based on data gathered, the surge has filled beds in both public and private hospitals and in the city’s isolation facilities.

According to the councilor, the ordinances regarding COVID must be up to date, dynamic, and should conform to the present need of the city.
