THE City Council has approved the increase of affiliation fee of students enrolled in medical courses undergoing training at the JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH).
This, following the amendment by the Council during its regular session presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Roger G. Abaday, of Section 582 of City Ordinance No. 4373-1994, otherwise known as the Codified Ordinance.
The amendment effectively increased the 31-year old affiliation fee for students enrolled in medicine, nursing, medical technology, midwifery, pharmacy, radiology, and nutrition and dietetics to ₱50.00 per 8-hour of affiliation and training.
JRBGH Chief Dr. Michael Perez recommended the increase, citing how committed clinical staff work with assigned clinical instructors from JRBGH to offer students with supervision, training, and direction to ensure they complete the required clinical experience.
The legislation was sponsored by the committees on health, nutrition, and health insurance, on ways and means, and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Paolo Nicolo Gaane, Yan Lam S. Lim, and Edgar S. Cabanlas, respectively. (JBD/SP/Photo by Radio Phil Network)
