SP grants tax exemption to Tabernacle Choir live stream concert

City Vice Mayor Jocelyn "Bebot" Rodriguez

THROUGH an ordinance, the 20th City Council during its regular session on Monday, presided over by City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, granted exemption from payment of amusement tax the livestreaming of the concert of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints broadcasted in all SM Cinemas nationwide on February 28, 2024.

In her letter request to the city government, Melody Sunogan of Cagayan de Oro Communications Coordinating Council said they seek a special permit to hold the said event free from tax and other charges imposed by the city, since the concert was offered for free.

“It is our earnest desire to allow our Kagay-anons the opportunity to experience this historic event”, she said.
