SK Balubal secures 2025 budget
The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Balubal is set to roll out its programs for the year following the 20th City Council’s approval of its annual budget, amounting to ₱1,161,976.00.
The budget, sourced from the mandated 10% development fund of the barangay under pursuant to Republic Act 10742, also known as the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, ensures that youth-led initiatives receive adequate financial support.

Under their SK Resolution No. 2, duly signed by SK Chairperson Melanie P. Maestrado, ₱290,412.00 has been allocated for the honoraria of SK officials, while ₱871,564.00 is earmarked for maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE). This includes provisions for local travel, training, office supplies, building and equipment repairs, fidelity bond premiums, membership dues, and other necessary supplies and materials.
A significant portion of the budget will support youth empowerment and development programs focusing on health, equitable access to education, economic empowerment through employment and livelihood initiatives, and peacebuilding and security, including anti-drug abuse campaigns.
Additionally, funding is allocated for governance and active citizenship programs such as leadership training and capability-building activities.
Environmental initiatives, including climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and environmental protection programs, are also among the priorities.
The committees on sports and youth development and on laws and rules, respectively chaired by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala and Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, sponsored the approval of the said budget. (SPEscoltos/SP)
