THE students of Bachelor of Arts in Communication Program of Liceo de Cagayan University will soon be able to implement their proposed community-based information drive on mental health awareness and media and information literacy.

This, after the group earned backing from Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez, who vowed support for the said activity during their courtesy visit to his office.

The initiative, titled “Healthy Minds, Informed Homes: A Community Information Drive on Mental Health Awareness and Media Information Literacy for Parents in Barangays across Cagayan de Oro City,” seeks to equip parents in various barangays with essential knowledge and practical guidance on mental health and responsible media consumption, emphasizing its role in strengthening families and communities.

As chairperson of the committee on social services and a mental health advocate, Rodriguez recognized the initiative’s potential to promote greater public awareness of mental health and encourage the responsible use of media and information among communities in Cagayan de Oro.

Mr. Jefferson Bungog, adviser of the BA Communication Program, presented the program proposal along with Mrs. Rebecca Hilot, Academic Chairperson, and student officers Ms. Christine Gabe and Ms. Alyzha Boransing.

Also present during the meeting was Ms. Mary Jane Delos Reyes, Community Mental Health and Psychoeducation Focal, who provided insights and recommendations to further enhance the proposed campaign. (JDO/SP)
