THE committee on public works, chaired by Councilor Al Legaspi Sr., convened last Friday, November 28, to address concerns raised over several infrastructure projects in the city’s uptown area.

The discussion stemmed from a letter sent by Mr. Astrid Bana, president of the Federation of Uptown Village Homeowners Associations, Inc. (FUVHOAs), to the Office of Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez.

In his letter, Mr. Bana raised issues involving the drainage outfall of the ongoing drainage project, the pedestrian overpass, and the median installed along Masterson Avenue for solar street lights.

He noted that residents are particularly concerned about the placement of the openings since no consultation was done before the implementation of the projects in their area.

The residents know the terrain best and will be most affected by any changes, he further emphasized.

During the committee meeting, Councilor Aga Suan moved for a joint ocular inspection to be conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the City Engineer’s Office.

The committee recommended that representatives from FUVHOAs, along with officials from the concerned barangays, be invited to join the on-site inspection to ensure better coordination and open communication.

The joint inspection is scheduled on the morning of December 11, 2025. (SPE/SP)
