COUNCILOR George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committees on trade and commerce and on ways and means, said a freeze in the price of basic commodities is in effect and shall last for 60 days.

Councilor Goking is thanking the City Price Coordinating Council and other concerned government agencies for monitoring and controlling prices of basic commodities.

It was learned that the team is inspecting supermarkets to check on the prices during the holiday season.

Goking said he appreciates the action taken by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the continuous release of the list of suggested retail prices (SRP's) of Noche Buena staples for the guidance of consumers.

Councilor Goking also expressed gratitude to the business sector for the cooperation it is extending to the city government and to the people of the city.
