One thousand indigent solo parents of the city finally received their ₱7,000 subsidy during the payout held at the Barangay 40 Covered Court in the last week of October.

Of these beneficiaries, 443 were from District 1, while 557 were from District 2, based on verified list from the City Social Welfare Department (CSWD).

Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez, chairperson of the committee on social services, has been at the forefront of efforts to expedite the release of the subsidy, which had been delayed for several months.

“Our solo parents have waited patiently for this assistance. I am truly thankful to Mayor Klarex Uy, Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, and the City Council for heeding the people’s call and ensuring that this subsidy finally reaches our beneficiaries,” said Rodriguez.

He also expressed his appreciation to the CSWD, headed by Ms. Anecia Tongson, along with the CSWD staff and representatives from the City Finance Department for their efforts in ensuring the smooth and organized distribution of the funds.

Rodriguez reaffirmed his commitment to advancing social welfare programs that uplift the lives of the city’s marginalized sectors, emphasizing his dedication to continue prioritizing the people and ensuring that social services are felt by every Kagay-anon.

The turnover of assistance to the beneficiaries was witnessed and graced by Mayor Uy, Councilor Desiree Dahino, and Councilor Gigi Go. (JDO/SP)
