Oro dads approve Barangay 39 ordinance on waste disposal, public urination

THE 20th City Council of Cagayan de Oro, during its regular session on Monday, adopted a resolution declaring as operative Barangay 39 ordinance regulating proper waste disposal and prohibiting public urination within its vicinity.
Authored by Kagawad Mary Jane A. Epa, the ordinance prohibits littering, improper garbage disposal, obstruction caused by waste or debris, waste spillage from public utility vehicles, illegal signage or advertisements, and other acts that contribute to unsanitary conditions or disrupt public hygiene and cleanliness.
Penalties for violations are as follows: ₱500 for the first offense, ₱800 for the second offense, and a fine not exceeding ₱1,000 for each subsequent offense.
The legislation was endorsed by the City Council committee on barangay affairs and committee on laws and rules, chaired by Councilors Yan Lam S. Lim and Edgar S. Cabanlas, respectively. (JAOclarit/SP)
