THE 20th City Council, in its regular session on Monday, presided over by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, adopted a resolution supporting the Indahag Barangay Ordinance that ensures all business owners, regardless of business type, are allowed to operate legally in Barangay Indahag.
The barangay ordinance, authored by Honorable Barangay Kagawad Agustine R. Laron and co-sponsored by Honorable Barangay Kagawads Melitona B. Patriana and Primo Z. Taglinao aims to promote inclusive and vibrant business environment in the barangay, recognizing that equal economic opportunities contribute to community development and economic prosperity.
Under the barangay ordinance, all businesses—whether sole proprietorships, partnerships, or corporations—are permitted to operate in Barangay Indahag without discrimination based on business type or nature of operations. It also aims to uphold principles of fairness and equity, ensuring that no arbitrary restrictions or discriminatory regulations hinder business owners.

Additionally, it mandates compliance with all relevant laws, including health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and taxation requirements.
Business owners must register their establishments with the City Government of Cagayan de Oro per City Ordinance No. 13992-2020. Failure to comply may result in penalties as prescribed by law.
To enforce this measure, the Barangay Council of Indahag will perform regular monitoring and inspections to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on barangay affairs and on laws and rules, respectively chaired by Councilors Yan Lam S. Lim and Edgar S. Cabanlas. (JAOclarit/SP)
