Nacaya backs plans for establishment of more police precincts
MAJORITY Floor Leader Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya said he is optimistic that plans for the establishment of more police precincts in Cagayan de Oro can be done through the efforts and leadership of OIC COCPO Director Aaron Mandia and Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, chair of the City Council committee on public safety.
During the 97th regular session of the City Council this week, Nacaya said with more police precincts, the national headquarters will also provide additional police personnel and necessary funding.
He said Col. Mandia and Councilor Calizo can lobby for one or more police stations. The crucial area is Barangay Kauswagan which has a huge population, he cited.
“It should be separated from Carmen,” he added.
The councilor, who used to chair the committee on police, fire and public safety, also proposed another police station in the hinterland barangays and in the western part of the city as priority areas.
Nacaya recommended that this be forwarded to the committee of Councilor Calizo for further discussion and deliberation.
“ … to make do what we can make for the furtherance of public service particularly in the enforcement agency,” Nacaya added.
The councilor commended Col. Mandia for including this in his plans for the Cagayan de Oro City.
Nacaya expressed optimism that with his experience and influence, Col. Mandia will be a great asset to the city.
