Modernization of Puerto Public Market in the offing

THE transformation of the once dilapidated public market in Puerto into a modern, state-of-the-art public market is in the offing.

The Gavel learned that Phase 1 of the project amounting to P88.5 million is now complete. Bidding for the second phase of the project in the amount of P100 million took place last week as posted on the Team Nacaya Facebook page.

It is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2023.

The new Puerto public market will have modern fish and meat sections, fruits and vegetable section, rentable spaces for entrepreneurs, kiosks, and food stalls, among others.

Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya, chair of the City Council committee on economic enterprises, expressed his gratitude to Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, members of the City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy and all those who worked for the successful project realization.

The councilor has lobbied for the needed funding of the Puerto modernization project as he continues to work on the improvement of other public markets to provide the best market facilities to the people of Cagayan de Oro.
