COUNCILOR Al Legaspi, Sr., a member of the city council’s committee on senior citizens, represented Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy during the 6th Anniversary celebration of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) held on July 25 at the City Tourism Hall.
With the theme “Empowering Seniors, Enriching Communities,” the event recognized the vital role of senior citizens in building stronger and more compassionate communities.
In his message, Councilor Legaspi underscored the importance of the wisdom and insight that senior citizens contribute to society.

"Ang mga katuigan nga anaa sa atong mga ginikanan, ang mga senior citizens, nagpadayag sa ilang mga kasinatian, kaalam, ug kahayag," he shared, reflecting on the value they bring through their lived experiences.
He also commended the continued efforts of the NCSC, noting that its mandate extends beyond technical or administrative functions, and stands as a sincere expression of respect and dedicated service to the senior citizen sector.
A key highlight of the event was the distribution of cash gifts to 396 qualified senior citizens, in line with Republic Act No. 11982 or the Expanded Centenarians Act, which seeks to provide additional recognition and support to elderly Filipinos.
