THE City Council committee on health, nutrition, and health insurance chaired by Councilor Paolo Nicolo Gaane, requested the legal opinion of the City Legal Office on the proposal of the J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) to increase the student affiliation fee.
The JRBGH proposed a student affiliation fee of ₱50.00 per 8-hour for health-related courses during the clinical experience of affiliating students from various schools, pursuant to Section 582 of Ordinance No. 4373-94 or the Codified Ordinance of Cagayan de Oro City.
During the meeting, Dr. Michael Perez of JRBGH manifested that dedicated clinical staff provides students guidance, training, and supervision in partnership with the assigned clinical instructors to ensure completion of necessary clinical experience of students.
This proposal applies to health-related courses such as medicine, nursing, medical technology, midwifery, pharmacy, radiology, and nutrition and dietetics.
With this, the committee will tackle the proposal again during its next meeting for finalization, after the City Legal Office submits its legal opinion.
Councilors Jonjon Rodriguez and Aga Suan were present during the committee meeting. (JBD/SP)
