PUBLIC Works Committee Chair Edgar Cabanlas strongly supported the barangay resolution of Baikingon asking the City Council to authorize City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to secure a Gratuitous Special Use Permit (GSUP) for the proposed first district Cagayan de Oro Memorial Park.

It may be recalled that, during the 107th regular session, the City Council enacted an ordinance declaring the city government-owned property in Barangay Baikingon as another city cemetery to cater to the burial needs of the residents in Pagatpat, Iponan, San Simon, Baikingon and other neighboring areas.

But because the 2.8-hectare lot is timber-rich, it needs to comply with DENR Administrative Order No. 2022-01, which lays down the guidelines to ensure that government plans and standards are followed when granting licenses to government agencies for the development of projects and public infrastructure within forestlands.
