City Councilor Gilda O. Go, chairperson of the committee on senior citizens, took part in the Senior Citizen City-Wide Meeting 2026, reaffirming the City Council’s continued focus on policies that uplift the lives of the elderly sector.
The activity, organized in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Office for Senior Citizen Affairs, oriented participants on current national guidelines governing programs for senior citizens.

During the event, Go emphasized the efforts of her committee in enhancing the implementation of the Social Pension Program, an initiative that provides financial assistance to indigent senior citizens.
She also underscored the importance of the transition to the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), emphasizing its role in improving data-driven governance.
By strengthening local data collection and analysis, CBMS will make service delivery among the elderly population more efficient.
Councilor Go reaffirmed her commitment to advancing community-centered programs by collaborating with all concerned government agencies and stakeholders. (JAO/SP)
