IN a strong act of community service and health advocacy, Councilor Paolo Nicolo Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health, nutrition and health insurance, has expressed his full support for the upcoming blood donation initiatives to be led by the Volunteerism and Active Citizenship Center (VACC).
This was one of the programs presented by Mr. Alain Roy M. Romero, focal person of VACC along with his members, during their courtesy visit to Councilor Gaane.
The activity carries the theme, “Dugong kagay-anon: Kasing-kasing ug Kalidad”, a blood donation drive rooted in compassion and public service.
The bloodletting program, to be implemented in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Misamis Oriental-Cagayan de Oro City Chapter, seeks to cultivate a new civic norm within City Hall—that public service includes the voluntary giving of one’s self to save lives.
VACC is a program of the city government under the Community Affairs Department. It leads the city’s efforts in advancing civic engagement, empowering local volunteers, and building a culture of active citizenship at the heart of local governance.
Councilor Gaane urges Kagay-anons to take part of the bloodletting activity highlighting the significance of blood donation campaigns, especially during this time when blood supplies are desperately needed to support local hospitals and emergency services.
“We stand behind programs that foster volunteerism and uphold the spirit of bayanihan, knowing that saving lives is always a shared responsibility”, said Councilor Gaane. (JBD/SP)
