Fiesta sa Barrio 2025 celebrates community spirit, cultural heritage

THE city government celebrated with unity and tradition through Fiesta sa Barrio 2025, held on August 15 at the Pelaez Sports Center, bringing together the 21st City Council, City Hall department managers, and barangay participants in games, contests, and shared festivities as part of this year’s Higalaay Festival.

The celebration includes competitions of ‘Larong Pinoy’ or traditional Filipino games, which have played by children in the country for generations.

The fun-filled competition such as tug-of-war, patintero, palosebo brought out the creative and athletic talents of participants. It also showcased the rich Filipino cultural heritage and the true spirit of bayanihan—working together and celebrating pride of being a proud Filipino.

The overall winners of the Fiesta sa Barrio 2025 for the Larong Pinoy were Barangay Agusan (champion), Balubal (2^nd placer), Iponan (3^rd placer), Tumpagon (4^th placer), and Barangay 27 (5^th placer).

Barangay Tumpagon won the chant contest, while Barangays 1 and 22 got the boodle presentation award.

The city lauded the Barangays and Sangguniang Kabataan Councils and the residents for the support and cooperation for making the event successful. (JBD/SP)
