Councilor Des Dahino, chairperson of the committee on women and family relations, urged self-care and stress management for solo parents during National Women’s Month during an activity organized by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Solo Parents Section.
The event, held on Thursday, March 19, at the Barangay Carmen Conference Room, brought together solo parents for a day of learning, support, and empowerment.
The activity featured a stress debriefing session conducted by the CSWD Psychosocial Division and an empowerment session on breast cancer awareness led by Dr. Shirley Bacus of Hope Channel.
As one of the key speakers, Dahino highlighted the importance of stress management among parents, especially solo parents who often juggle multiple roles—as mother or father, provider, disciplinarian, and caregiver.
She emphasized that while parenting comes with many challenges, prioritizing self-care is essential in order to better support and nurture their families.
Dahino also expressed her continued support for programs that promote the well-being of solo parents, recognizing their strength and resilience in raising their children.
The activity was attended by CSWD Officer Annie Tongson, Solo Parents Section Head Mary Apple Dawn Tabafa, and members of the CSWD Psychosocial Unit headed by Rio Rosal Baliling. (SPE/SP/Photo from Councilor Dahino's fb page)
