“Protecting the vulnerable is not only our duty, but a shared moral obligation,” stated Councilor Desiree Dahino, chairperson of the committee on women and family relations, as she underscored the importance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, observed annually on July 30.
Councilor Dahino, together with Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB) Vice Chairman Antonio Ramon S. Resma Jr., representatives of the City Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking, Child Pornography, and Violence Against Women and Children (CIACAT-VAWC) and the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), carried out a surprise citywide monitoring operation.
The targeted establishments included transient inns, lodging houses, hotels, massage spas, bars, and nightclubs, all in an effort to ensure that minors were neither exploited nor placed in harmful environments.
Councilor Dahino expressed her appreciation for the cooperation of local businesses and establishments during the operation.
She likewise reiterated her commitment to working closely with the RCB and other partner agencies to strengthen future efforts in protecting vulnerable individuals in the community. (SPE/SP/Photos from Councilor Dahino's FB page)
