Councilor Moreno Y. Daba IV, chair of the City Council committee on education, paid tribute to the teaching and non-teaching personnel as partners in progress during the World Teachers’ Day Celebration 2025, held on October 3, 2025, at the Atrium, Lim Ket Kai Center.
Representing Mayor Rolando A. Uy, Daba conveyed the city government’s continuing support for teachers and education workers, affirming their vital role in shaping the city’s future through learning and service.
This year’s celebration, themed "My Teacher, My Hero," featured the Kagay-an Bahandi Awards, an annual recognition program organized by the Department of Education–Cagayan de Oro City Division in partnership with the City Government to honor educators who exemplify excellence and leadership in teaching.
The event showcased teachers’ talents, creativity, and teamwork, through the Search for Talentadong Guro, bench cheering, folk dance, short film, Santacruzan-inspired parade, and video documentation contests.
In his message, Daba reaffirmed the city government steadfast support for programs that promote teachers’ professional growth, welfare, and working conditions.
As Cagayan de Oro joined the global observance of World Teachers’ Day, the event underscored the city’s commitment to education and to the men and women who dedicate their lives to shaping the future through knowledge and service. (JAO/SP/Photos from Councilor Daba’s FB page)
