Councilor Rodriguez seeks improved VAWC response system

Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez called for a more systematic response mechanism to victim-survivors of violence against women and children (VAWC).

In his special report, Rodriguez said that during the orientation conducted by Balay Mindanaw, several VAW victims told their sad experiences when seeking assistance.

A resource speaker pointed gaps in the current system, including delayed responses, unclear procedures, and poor inter-agency coordination, leaving survivors unsupported and disoriented.

Rodriguez stressed that every woman seeking help must be met with urgency and decisive action and called for agencies to coordinate and collaborate.

“I hope we will be able to work together in establishing a flow that is more efficient, compassionate, and, at its core, truly helpful to the victim-survivors who have already experienced too much,” he said.

He also emphasized that protecting women must go beyond awareness campaigns and observances, including the recently concluded Women’s Month.

“Although Women’s Month has already ended, we must nonetheless find ways to ensure that women in society are seen, heard, and protected every single day,” he concluded. (JDOpema/SP)
