COUNCILOR Gilda O. Go, chair of the City Council Committee on Senior Citizens, spearheaded a meeting on August 18, 2025, with key stakeholders to advance the establishment of a Senior Citizen Community Care Center in the city.
In attendance were Ms. Mary Jean H. Assuming Regional Director of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), and Mr. Adrian Nagac, President of the Confederation of Active Federations of Elderly and Senior Citizens Associations (CAFESCA).

Discussions centered on the development of a facility with accessible and senior-friendly infrastructure, sustainable funding mechanisms to ensure long-term viability, and the integration of community-based programs that promote active aging, health, and wellness.
Stakeholders unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the dignity, well-being, and active participation of senior citizens in local governance.
The initiative is seen as a significant milestone toward creating an inclusive care center designed to meet the evolving needs of Cagayan de Oro’s elderly population. (JAO/SP)
