COUNCILOR Desiree Dahino, chairperson of the committee on women and family relations, presided over the 3rd quarterly meeting of the City Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (CIACAT-VAWC) on September 10, her first official participation as co-chair.
The meeting focused on strengthening local mechanisms to intensify the city’s campaign against human trafficking both on the ground and in cyberspace.
Among the agenda items taken up were the roll-out of the Joint Memorandum Circular on the institutionalization and strengthening of Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and VAWC (LCAT-VAWC).
The presentation of the 2025 first semester accomplishment report and the review and resolution to submit the draft Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the proposed Anti-OSAEC Ordinance to the City Council for enactment were also discussed.
Councilor Dahino, who has consistently championed the protection women and through legislative measures in citywide anti-trafficking operations, reaffirmed her commitment to combat all forms of violence.
She also expressed her readiness to work hand in hand with CIACAT-VAWC members in advancing the committee’s shared mission. (SPE/SP)
