“Breast cancer teaches us that strength is not found in the absence of fear, but in the decision to rise despite it.”
This was the message of City Councilor Des Dahino during the simultaneous lighting ceremony on October 1, marking the official launch of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event, she said, is a symbol not only of an awareness campaign, but also the government’s united commitment to the fight against breast cancer.
Councilor Dahino, women and family relations committee chair, highlighted the importance of spreading awareness, stressing that “early detection saves lives.”
She also called attention to the crucial role of prevention and community support throughout the breast cancer journey, saying that breast cancer is not just a medical issue but a human issue that affects families, communities, and friends.
The theme for this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as chosen by the World Health Organization (WHO), is “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters.” (SPE/SP)
