The 21st City Council of Cagayan de Oro, led by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, has extended its full support to the Capitol University Glee Club (CUGC) as the group prepares to represent Cagayan de Oro City and Northern Mindanao in the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) 2025.
The national event is set to take place from November 17 to 23, 2025, at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila, where the CUGC will compete under the Senior Category.
During the 17th Regular Session of the 21st City Council, the CUGC members appeared before the body, performed a song number, and formally sought financial assistance for their participation in the national competition. In response, the council collectively donated financial assistance to help cover their travel expenses.
Composed of 27 members, the CUGC is making its second attempt to join the prestigious national competition after their initial bid in 2012 was cut short due to incomplete requirements.
CUGC conductor Alejo M. Tugonon expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the city officials for their assistance, saying their support provides the group with renewed encouragement as they take on the national stage once again. (JDO/SP)
