THE 21st City Council of Cagayan de Oro has approved a resolution urging all public and private establishments in the city to display audio-visual materials aimed at combating Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).
Introduced by Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez and approved during the 20th Regular Session, the resolution calls for the use of LED video walls, TV screens, monitors, and other display platforms in malls, government offices, terminals, schools, and other public spaces to raise awareness and strengthen the campaign against OSAEC.
The measure also encourages establishments to show these advocacy materials year-round, with heightened emphasis in November to coincide with National Children’s Month.
Rodriguez highlighted that widespread information dissemination is crucial for protecting children and empowering communities to recognize, prevent, and report online sexual abuse and exploitation. (JDO/SP)
