THE city government of Cagayan de Oro will be collaborating with the Mindanao Consortium on Surgical Training (MCOST) for the training of MCOST residents in the field of surgery at the J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH).

This, as the 21st City Council during its regular session, Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the purpose.

MCOST is a Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS) -accredited surgical training program based in the Capitol University Medical Center and Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital (MRXUH), which are organized under the laws of the Philippines and officially recognized by the Department of Health (DOH).

Under the MOA, JRBGH and MCOST shall regularly review the implementing guidelines of the rotation every year and make revisions necessary to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies and the evolving needs of residents.

The two parties shall also assist and improve the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the training program, to ensure that it remains responsible, effective, and aligned with institutional and national standards.

The resident assigned may be granted with minimal allowance to offset the daily incidental needs during the rotation period intended to offset incidental costs such as meals and transportation duly approved by the JRGBH.

The ordinance was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on health, nutrition, health insurance and on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Paolo Nicolo Gaane and Edgar S. Cabanlas, respectively. (JBD/SP)
