More than 600 indigent Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from Districts 1A and 1B successfully received their social pension during the first day of the payout held on November 26, 2025, at the Barangay Carmen Covered Court.
The payout forms part of the 2024 City Budget allocation for indigent PWDs, with each beneficiary receiving ₱500 per month for 12 months, totaling ₱6,000.
Of the 688 beneficiaries scheduled on Day 1, 616 claimed their subsidy while 72 remained unclaimed. Unclaimed pensions will be distributed on November 28 at the OSCA Covered Court in Barangay 40. Payouts for Districts 2A and 2B will follow on November 27, and District 2C on November 28.
Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez, chairperson of the social services committee and one of the key proponents of the subsidy’s release, expressed his gratitude to Mayor Klarex Uy, Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, and the 21st City Council for their consistent support to the city’s PWD community.
He likewise extended his appreciation to the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWD) and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) for their efficient coordination, which ensured a smooth and orderly payout. (JDO/SP)
