THE 20th City Council, during its regular session on Monday, adopted a resolution
approving Ordinance No. 001-03, Series of 2024 of Barangay No. 23 imposing rates
and rental for the use of its covered courts.

The ordinance establishes standard fees for the reservation and use of the barangay's
covered courts to generate revenue and to augment the barangay’s limited funds and
support official functions and community activities.
Under the ordinance, a fee of ₱100.00 per hour will be charged for the use of the
covered courts during the day, specifically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while a higher
rate of ₱250.00 per hour will be imposed for night use, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The ordinance is anchored on the provisions of Republic Act 7160, also known as the
Local Government Code of 1991, which authorizes local government units to impose
and collect fees for services rendered.
According to the barangay, the approved rates will not only help defray maintenance
costs but also ensure the facility's sustainability for both official and recreational use.
The legislation was sponsored by the City Council committee on barangay, chaired by
Councilor Yan Lam S. Lim, and on laws and rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S.
Cabanlas. (JAOclarit/SP)
