City Council confirms appointment of city veterinarian

THE 20th City Council, in its regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, adopted a resolution confirming the appointment of Ms. Helen Ann P. Tacondong as City Government Department Head II of the Office of the City Veterinarian.

Tacondong, a licensed doctor of veterinary medicine, has dedicated over a decade to public service in the City Veterinary Office of Cagayan de Oro.


Before her appointment, she served as Assistant Department Head, overseeing key veterinary programs and services in the city.


She has also held various positions in the department, including Veterinarian IV, Veterinarian III, and Meat Control Officer II, demonstrating her extensive experience in veterinary public health and livestock management.


Her credentials include numerous training sessions and professional development programs in veterinary science, public health, and animal welfare.


She has participated in various conventions and workshops organized by the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association and the Department of Agriculture, enhancing her expertise in humane handling, rabies control, and meat inspection.


With her extensive background in veterinary medicine and public service, Tacondong’s leadership is expected to strengthen the city's veterinary programs and ensure the continued protection of public health and livestock safety.


The legislation was sponsored by the Committee on Rules and Laws, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, and was unanimously approved by the members of the City Council. (JAOclarit/SP)
