DURING its 5th regular session, the 21st City Council of Cagayan de Oro, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, approved an ordinance authorizing the formal acceptance of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory donated to Dansolihon National High School.
The ordinance ratifies the Memorandum of Acceptance signed by the City Government, the Department of Education (DepEd) Region X, and Skunk Works OPC, which provided the AI facility. The laboratory, fully delivered and installed by Skunk Works, includes essential equipment, infrastructure, learning materials, and digital tools to enhance educational delivery and promote digital learning.

DepEd and the City Government will share responsibility for maintaining and managing the facility to ensure its continued use for student learning and teacher training. The AI lab is intended solely for instruction in AI and emerging technologies, research initiatives, and skills development. Its sale, lease, or transfer to other entities is prohibited without written consent from all parties involved.
To support long-term success, Skunk Works may extend technical assistance and conduct periodic monitoring in coordination with the local government and DepEd.
With urgency certified by the City Mayor, the ordinance was unanimously approved by the members of the City Council. (JAO/SP)
