IN its recent regular session presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Roger Abaday, the 21st City Council unanimously adopted the city’s Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Plan.
The plan, endorsed by Resolution No. 5, Series of 2025, of the City Development Council, outlines institutional mechanisms and a monitoring framework to address the needs of children at risk and children in conflict with the law.
Councilor Des Dahino, chair of the committee on women and family relations, noted that the plan underwent a rigorous process to ensure alignment with national mandates. She added that a technical working group has been created to identify gaps and strengthen provisions for effective local implementation.
The plan formalizes coordination among key stakeholders—including the CSWD, the City Council for the Protection of Children, and barangay councils—to ensure unified interventions across the city.
It also reflects the commitment of the city mayor and the City Council to uphold juvenile rights and expand access to child-appropriate programs and services. (SPE/SP)
