The 21st City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez has enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with One Systems Integration Philippines, Inc. and OneSystems Technologies Ltd., Inc. (Singapore) for the trial installation of AI-assisted traffic management system at no cost to the city government.

The pilot areas shall cover three four-way signalized intersections and shall include the deployment, integration, operation, and support of the components.

The installation shall be conducted for a period of six months from the date of system activation.

Under the MOA, the city desires to evaluate the technical, operational, legal, and policy suitability of the proposed system prior to any decision to undertake a citywide deployment under a Hybrid Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

The parties also agree to conduct a limited, non-commercial, non-binding pilot implementation, strictly for evaluation and demonstration purposes.

By deploying advanced artificial intelligence solutions, enhanced traffic flow, reduced travel times, and increased overall road safety for the public are expected in the city streets. (JBD/SP)
