CDO, Bukidnon forge partnership for Oro River conservation

THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro is strengthening its environmental conservation efforts through a partnership with the municipalities of Malitbog and Sumilao in Bukidnon.

This comes after the 20th City Council, during its regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, enacted two ordinances authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into separate Memorandums of Agreement (MOA) with LGU Malitbog and Sumilao to establish the Assistance and Network Monitoring System and implement initiatives to preserve and conserve the Cagayan de Oro River Basin.

The agreement outlines a joint undertaking between the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMO) of Malitbog and Sumilao to enhance regional disaster preparedness and environmental protection efforts and ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding the river basin for the benefit of Cagayan de Oro and its neighboring municipalities.

Under the MOA, both parties will work to respond to hazards, disasters, and emergencies, while also supporting the implementation of disaster risk reduction (DRR) programs, projects, and activities co-developed by the LGU-CDO, LGU-Malitbog, and LGU-Sumilao. (JAOclarit/SP)
