COUNCILOR Edgar S. Cabanlas, chair of the City Council committee on subdivision, housing development, and landed estate, personally inspected the property in Barangay Puntod to assess its potential use as a road right-of-way for residents in the area.
The Barangay Council of Puntod headed by Punong Barangay Alexis J. Dacer earlier requested the city government to allocate funds for possible land expropriation covering portions of Lot Nos. 1164 and 1167 located specifically at Corrales Extension, San Vicente, District 3 of the said barangay. The right-of-way would benefit eight families.

The residents have been requesting an access road to improve connectivity and ease transportation issues in the area, especially during emergencies.
During the inspection, Councilor Cabanlas, together with the representatives of the city’s technical team and the affected residents, checked the property and discussed the potential options.
It was observed that fences had been constructed on the site, while the residents are utilizing the pathway connecting Corrales Extension opening as their makeshift access road.
Councilor Cabanlas appealed to the property owner for more time as the city studies the matter.
The councilor has referred the matter to the Office of the City Mayor Rolando A. Uy for possible land acquisition proceedings to establish an access road. (JBD/SP)
