Brgy. Iponan 2026 annual budget gets council nod

The 21st City Council, in its recent regular session, has unanimously approved the annual budget of Barangay Iponan for calendar year 2026, with an estimated income of ₱42,410,459.00.


Under the approved budget, the barangay council has allocated ₱4,740,630.00 for personal services of barangay officials and employees, and ₱22,662,605.00 for maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE).


The MOOE covers payment for office supplies, training, repair and maintenance, and other operational needs. It also includes funding for various priority programs such as gender and development (GAD), senior citizens’ welfare, nutrition, and other community-based initiatives.


Meanwhile, ₱2,120,523.00 has been appropriated under non-office expenditures for the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (BDRRMF) and the Quick Response Fund. The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) will also receive ₱4,241,046.00 to support its youth development programs.


For development projects, the barangay has earmarked ₱7,645,655.00 for the installation of streetlight systems, solid waste management projects, declogging of canals, rehabilitation and improvement of the barangay health center, child development centers, and the Bolao and Iponan Elementary Schools, as well as the materials recovery facility.


Other projects include the construction of a drainage system, movable stage, multi-purpose hall, and tourism boundary marker.


Additionally, ₱1,000,000.00 has been set aside for the acquisition of a lot intended for their public cemetery.


The approval of the barangay’s 2026 budget was endorsed by the committee on barangay affairs, chaired by Councilor Marlo Tabac, and the committee on laws and rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar Cabanlas. (SPE/SP)
